At the end of 2024, Unica once again played an active role in the IFA’s annual conference, where the latest advancements in reproductive medicine were shared.

The Infertile Couple from an Internist’s Perspective

One of the distinguished speakers at the event was Dr. Šárka Malá, who presented on “The Infertile Couple from an Internist’s Perspective.” In her talk, she highlighted how overall health, nutrition, exercise, sleep, and stress management significantly influence the chances of successful conception.

How Lifestyle Affects Fertility

Scientific research confirms that a healthy lifestyle can greatly enhance the success of assisted reproduction. Dr. Malá emphasized several key factors in her presentation:

  • Nutrition: A Mediterranean diet, rich in antioxidants, omega-3 fatty acids, and high-quality proteins, supports both egg and sperm quality.

  • Exercise: Regular physical activity helps maintain hormonal balance and increases the likelihood of successful embryo development.

  • Sleep: A lack of sleep can disrupt the menstrual cycle and reduce sperm quality. Experts recommend at least 7–8 hours of sleep per night.

  • Stress Management: Chronic stress negatively impacts hormonal balance and the immune system. Techniques like yoga, meditation, and guided breathing can be beneficial.

  • Hormonal Regulation: For women with PCOS, treatments such as metformin or GLP-1 analogs may be helpful, but an individualized consultation with a specialist is essential.
